I remember the conversation as if it were yesterday. Darlene and I were driving from our home in Wrightstown, WI down Route 96 headed to Kaukauna, WI to get something to eat. We had been messing around with the "intention" or "desire" to get Darlene's first novel, Until Forever published but hadn't yet made the commitment. "We don't have the money!" "We don't have the time!" "What if nobody buys the book?" "What if we go through all this effort and the results are depressing?" "What if____________________?" (just fill in whatever comes to mind) What if, What if, What if? Since we started self-publishing our own books and helping other authors to do the same, we have heard the same exact excuses from literally hundreds of authors. Our question to them is the same one Darlene & I asked ourselves on that fateful day on that fateful drive. Looking over at my wife, I asked her "Are we going to get this book published or not? Yes or No." Her answer was "Yes". And here we are. 13 Self-Published titles later. 200,000++ book downloads later. 48 consecutive months of receiving Amazon royalty payments later. Because we said "yes" even when we didn't have the time or the money and no guarantees we would ever sell a book. I believe that's what some people refer to as 'faith' while others simply label as 'crazy'. Maybe it's 'Crazy Faith'? Do you have enough 'Crazy Faith' to just go ahead and get your book published? I pray that you do. I promise, you will never regret it. Talk Soon, Dan & Darlene |
