Patience: A Virtue or a Curse ?

Learn how to Be The Publisher...
One of the questions we regularly hear in the publishing consulting world is “How long before my book can be published”?

If you’re familiar with traditional publishers, you’ll understand this is a valid question. Traditional publishers can take up to two years—perhaps in some cases even longer—to publish that coveted manuscript.

So, the question we in turn ask the author is, “Would you like to wait a year Two Years Twenty years Never (It really can take that long to find a traditional publisher willing to work with you.) Or would you like to see your book in print in eight weeks?

In fact, if your manuscript is formatted and edited, if the cover is designed, in other words, if your manuscript is print ready, the publishing process can take as little as two days.

With Self-publishing, also called Indie Publishing, you, the author, set the timeline for when your manuscript turns into a living, breathing, work of art with a cover and page numbers and author bio and all that other stuff that makes a book a book. You get to choose when the best time to publish is.

If your manuscript took you twenty years to write, then two more years or twenty more years might not matter. But, if you have a stack of books sitting on your computer just waiting to change lives worldwide, then it might matter to you to have a venue to publish those books in a timelier manner.

Everyone is different. Everyone has different needs. Different wants. Different opinions.

All you need is a print ready manuscript and the rest is up to you.

In review, patience can be a virtue or a curse. A virtue if a traditional publisher meets your needs and waiting to be published is part of your end goal. It’s a curse if you’ve been waiting for that traditional publisher to take notice of you and you just don’t care about who publishes your work…as long as your work gets published.

The beauty is…you get to decide.
